A summer wedding at The Oaks is always a guaranteed stunner! Emily and Jake’s gorgeous modern wedding took our breath away! Jeremy and I always love making connections with our BGP couples, but these two have a special place in our hearts.

The bride’s mom was my high school Spanish teacher, and it just so happens that she was pregnant with Emily the year I was in her class! I realize I just completely aged myself, but it’s worth noting this precious memory to really express my fondness for this family.

In fact, Emily and her sister performed in my theater company, Up In Lights Productions, for years! The connections just keep coming, and I can’t think of a better way to come full circle than to capture Emily and Jake on their wedding day! 

The Oaks, located in Castle Rock, Colorado, is an incredible venue filled with thoughtful designs throughout. Remodeled in 2020 by world-famous architect Paul Thoryk, it boasts a gorgeous blend of vintage and modern while surrounded by the natural beauty of the Colorado landscape. 

Anna Lathers beautifully served as the wedding day coordinator at The Oaks. She was a complete joy to work with, making sure the entire day kept moving seamlessly and was incredibly well organized. 

Can we talk about the bridal suite?! With 2,500 square feet of gorgeousness, it made getting ready for the big day feel like a weekend retreat! With plenty of plush seating areas, including a whimsical swinging bed, it was the perfect spot for Emily and her friends to relax and enjoy some special moments before the ceremony.  

Emily was simply stunning in her Stella York dress from Dora Grace Bridal. Her hair was pulled up and styled by the talented Kiana Ware, and her simple makeup was perfected by Kristen Baumeister. 

The groom had quite an experience of his own! Jake started the day with a round of golf at the beautiful Plum Creek Golf Course, located just outside The Oaks. Later, the groomsmen continued the fun in the groom’s room with their Trackman golf simulator.

There’s so much to say about the first look. Let’s just say, it started off with lots of laughs! Nervously expecting to see his future wife for the first time, Jake turned around to find his brother standing there, donning a white wedding gown with a huge grin on his face! It was definitely the perfect tension breaker and helped shake off some of the nerves as the groom prepared for the real first look.

As expected, Emily and Jake’s first look was brimming with excitement and emotion. They exchanged their personal vows and promises privately in that moment, and they were each overcome with emotion.

The ceremony took place in front of a breathtaking grove of oak trees. Although rain threatened and guests armed themselves with umbrellas, it certainly didn’t take away from the beauty of the moment. 

Cocktail hour followed the ceremony and was held in the modern and ultra chic Oak Room Cocktail Lounge, featuring a classy Art Deco decor. In the midst of the inspiring ambiance, you couldn’t help but notice the Stanley Cup finals quietly playing on the big screen tvs throughout the room! 

Emily and Jake’s reception was held in the ballroom, featuring floor to ceiling windows and a stunning panoramic view of Castle Rock. Bright light and solid oak beams gave this space a clean and inviting atmosphere, making it the perfect space for the couple’s family and friends to celebrate! 

The food at the reception was incredible! Who doesn’t love tacos?! The staff at The Oaks catered a phenomenal taco bar, complete with all the fixings to please every taco lover.

As the evening began to wind down, Jeremy and I noticed the guests were getting amped up! As I mentioned, the Stanley Cup was going on throughout the evening. It was game 6, and if you’re an Avalanche fan you know that means things were getting intense! We began to see the glow of screens fill the room as guests not-so-secretly watched the final moments of the game on their phones.

Spoiler alert: The Avs won! It was such a fun surprise ending to an already wonderful celebration. One of the groomsmen even traded his suit coat for an Av’s jersey! 

Emily and Jake, your special day was simply magical from start to finish. Jeremy and I were thrilled to share this special occasion with such a special couple. We wish you all the love and happiness in the world as you begin your new life together!
