Summer weddings along the Big Thompson River are one of the many reasons Colorado is so great. Even in a drought you’ll find these amazingly tall oak tree’s towering over one of our favorite ceremony sites at Sweet Heart Winery. And on a cool summer day, it’s one of my favorites spots to enjoy a glass of wine and time with my hubby.
I think it’s a no brainer when someone contacts us to capture their wedding at a winery. But not just any winery, Sweet Heart Winery. It’s been a long time date night spot for Jeremy, so any excuse to head there we are ready. The added bonus of getting to work there with some of our favorite “friendors” (friends and vendors) in the business makes weddings days even more fun.
Jeremy and I were thrilled the day that Katelynne reached out to book us for their wedding day. Emailing back and forth, I just knew that she was someone I would have a blast with. And I wasn’t wrong, from their playful engagement session in Old Town Fort Collins, to working together on timelines and details, I’ve enjoyed every minute getting to know them both.
Katelynne is one extraordinary bride, and I don’t say that lightly. She’s so creative and has a gift for entertaining, which was evident in every detail of the day. From custom wood signs, to making the wedding cake and cupcakes; this girl went above and beyond in a labor of love for her guests. She even made a special birthday cake to sit along side her’s for one of their guests.
Once everything was ready, we wandered down to the river for a sweet bride and groom first look.
It was truly an honor getting to be there with Katelynne and Isaiah as the two of them began their day together reading their personal vows to one another. Having this important moment be private for the two of them, made the words and promises so meaningful. No performances, just honest heartfelt vows to one another.
Following their first look and portraits, Katelynne and Isaiah’s wedding ceremony took place along the row of glistening tree’s and was followed by an amazing party inside the winery’s barrel room.
There’s something so to exhilarating about being in on a big surprise for someone. So knowing all day that the bride’s wonderful sister and maid of honor was going to be leaving this celebration with a little extra sparkle on that left hand was an absolute hoot.
So as everyone pretended to gather for the bouquet toss, exchanging snickers and sneaky glances, the bride turned around and delivered the bouquet to her sister’s hands.
As her sister giggled and turned around, there was her boyfriend down on one knee proposing to marry her. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so genuinely surprised. With tears running down her cheeks she quickly said yes and kicked off an amazing night of dancing and celebration.
Katelynne and Isaiah, we have had the best time getting to know you two. What a blessing it was to be there and see your love story move forward into forever together. We count you as friends and wish you every ounce of happiness. Thank you for trusting us! CONGRATS.
