Bre and Nic’s destination micro wedding in Estes Park, Colorado was filled with emotion and intimacy as their closest friends and family were the only guests in attendance. That’s part of what makes micro weddings so special!
According to Brides, more couples are opting for micro weddings, making them a popular choice for newly engaged couples. But with a limited guest list, that can leave many people who care about the couple feeling major FOMO.
We truly believe wedding videos are a great way to make family and friends feel included if they aren’t able to travel to attend the wedding in person. Watching the day unfold in a custom highlight wedding film can really help your loved ones feel as if they were right there with you!
With Estes Park being a major destination spot for weddings, Bre and Nic made their way to Colorado from Michigan to exchange their vows. They knew it would be an enormous ask of their local friends to join them for this destination wedding. After much thought, the couple decided to find a compromise and add a wedding highlight film to share with loved ones back home.
And for the record, their video is one of our MOST viewed highlight films on YouTube. Needless to say, there were lots of people who wished they could have been there. And thanks to the magic of technology, they had the best seat in the house!
As family and close friends gathered at Black Canyon Inn, Bre and her friends got ready in a nearby airbnb. Meanwhile, Nic and his guys got ready in another location across town. Estes Park is filled with amazing hotels, but an airbnb or cabin can make for a great option so your entire wedding party can stay together the morning of the wedding. Hotels can be so limiting when it comes to space, so we’re huge fans of going this route!
PRO TIP: Wherever you opt to get ready, consider booking it for an extra night! Allow the hotel staff to clean it up so that it’s ready for your wedding night. That way, when the celebration and festivities are over you can immediately retreat to your private suite without having to travel or book a hotel elsewhere. You’ll thank us later!
Several of Bre and Nic’s guests made a vacation out of the trip and enjoyed a week of hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, as well as doing some incredible shopping in downtown Estes. That’s just another great thing about a destination wedding. Everyone can experience the excitement and beauty of the location together!
Speaking of beauty, the couple shared an intimate first look under a canopy of Aspen trees alongside a glistening pond. Yes, it was like a scene straight out of a movie!
Because a micro wedding has a limited amount of coverage, having a first look and portraits before the ceremony is ideal. This helped ensure Bre and Nic were able to spend the precious moments after the ceremony with their loved ones.
However, pushing all your portraits to the beginning of the day can have its limits with potentially harsh, bright light. Especially in the Colorado mountains! But fortunately for us, the mountains are also blessed with lots of tall trees to help diffuse the light and provide some shade should we need it.
But as luck would have it, we were gifted with an overcast day as thunderstorms lurked in the distance. As a result, we got some incredible shots before the ceremony began!
Following the ceremony, family and friends went to dinner at Ed’s Cantina, our absolute favorite local restaurant in Estes. If you ever happen to find yourself there, the avocado margarita and bacon wrapped jalapeños are a must try. Trust us!
After celebrating Bre and Nic’s winter engagement with them, their wedding day was one we absolutely couldn’t wait for! We sure wish these two lived closer!
Their wedding highlight film still brings tears to my eyes. It was the perfect way for those who couldn’t be there to share in the joy and love radiating from Bre and Nic on their special day.
