Mikayla and Holt’s wedding at The Mill in Windsor was the perfect mix of rustic and modern charm.

The light poured in through the windows, casting a warm glow on all who gathered to celebrate this beautiful couple. With the help of her mom, Mikayla planned every last detail – from the thoughtful details to the private dance at the end of the night. It was an emotional day, made even more special by the beautiful surroundings.

Mikayla began the day getting ready in The Mill’s bridal house with all of her closest girlfriends. The bridal house really is the perfect place for a wedding party to get ready.

The house was full of laughter and excitement as everyone made their finishing touches before finally getting dressed. Many dances were created for Tik Tok, as they shook off the nerves of the day.

But, I don’t think the emotions truly hit anyone, till Mikayla made her big reveal. Tears filled everyone’s eyes, and time slowed down just enough for everyone to feel the joy as they saw her in her beautiful dress from Blushing Bride.

Holt and his friends got ready downstairs, and with the anticipation of the day weighing on them, the groomsmen unanimously decided they too wanted a “first look.” So as Mikayla stood there giggling in her dress, the groomsmen all turned around and had to pull their jaws up off the floor.

I’m not sure any bride truly knows how to react to the overwhelming cheers of their friends seeing them in their dress. But it’s such a fun and unique experience to see a young woman be celebrated by those who are closest to her.

Mikayla and Holt wrote each other letters the day of the wedding, which they read to one another standing back to back. With stories of when they first met, to inside jokes about the future, their letters were a beautiful reflection of their love story.

Sharing personal letter’s is one of our favorite moments on the wedding day. We love it so much, that we even wrote a blog recently to help our couples compose these meaningful letters.

Because Mikayla and Holt chose to have us capture their day through both photo and video, the letter creates an opportunity for us to tell an amazing love story not just about the day itself, but also includes the stories of how the two of them found one another.

After a sweet moment sharing their hearts, Mikayla and Holt decided to see each other for the first time before their ceremony. First looks are wonderful for couples who want to spend some quality time together before the craziness of the wedding day takes hold.

For Mikayla and Holt, having this extra time before the ceremony was hugely valuable because it meant some extra portrait time with their families before the ceremony.

With light rain and dark clouds stirring around outside, once the music began, warm, radiant light poured in through the windows lighting up the beautifully decorated cross. Tears poured out of everyone’s eyes as Mikayla made her way down the aisle towards her future husband, serenaded by live worship music.

Soft pale pink, gold and rose gold details brought a feminine touch to the rustic interior of The Mill. Along with the blush bridesmaid’s dresses by Dear Cleo, adding a bit of romance.

The wedding concluded with lots of fun on the dance floor, a variety of desserts from Next Level parties, Eileens Colossal Cookies, ZuZu’s Bake Shop and even Lamars Donuts.

Saving a private last dance for the bride and groom, wedding guests lined up outside creating a tunnel of glow sticks leading to their chauffeured convertible. It was the perfect ending to this Barbie Girl Wedding!

Mikayla and Holt, we’ve been so blessed getting to know you and your families and now I can’t believe our time together has come to an end. You two are something to very special, and your love story is one we have been so honored to share.
