Elegant Black & White Wedding at Flying Horse

Let me tell you about the incredible wedding day of Lauren and Logan at Flying Horse Ranch near Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a Larkspur Wedding Photographer and videographer, this day was an absolute dream to capture.

Lauren and Logan’s elegant black and white theme was an absolute stunner, with white florals and greenery draping every inch of the venue. The talented bride, Lauren, showcased her creativity and brilliance in design. From her hand-beaded veil to a welcoming vintage mailbox, her DIY touches were everywhere, and they massively paid off.

Flying Horse Ranch has the most gorgeous getting-ready suites for the bride and groom. Lauren and her squad were pampered by Amy DaCosta and Angelica Glo Beauty in a suite that looked straight out of a fairytale. Meanwhile, the guys started their day offsite at Top Golf and Chick-fil-A before relaxing in the groom’s quarters, complete with a pool table and arcade games galore.

Now one of the sweetest moments of the day was the first touch on the covered porch. Lauren and Logan joined each other back-to-back, exchanging promises without seeing each other. It was such an intimate and emotional moment to kick off the day.

The bridesmaids were exquisite in black satin gowns, while the groomsmen kept it classy in their classic black suits. The wedding day was met with unexpected rain right up to the start of the ceremony, but holding out for clear skies paid off big time. We were rewarded with a gorgeous evening of cool, dry weather, perfect for the ceremony.

Later in the evening, Logan’s dad did a beautiful job officiating the ceremony, which featured romantic greenery lining the aisle and a unique ring-warming ceremony. Guests passed the couple’s wedding bands around, praying over them and wishing the couple well.

But for me, the highlight was the bride’s entrance. The doors opened, and Lauren walked forward with her dad to the covered porch railing. She took a moment to breathe and take it all in while Logan waited, turned around, not seeing his bride yet. When Lauren finally walked down to the aisle, her father fluffed her dress and stepped aside, allowing Logan to turn and see his gorgeous bride for the first time. It was a moment full of pure emotion.

After the ceremony, guests were invited inside for a romantic candlelit dinner. Before anyone could dig into the buffet, though, we had introductions. The bridesmaids danced their way around the room, shooting off six gold confetti cannons—a perfect way to kick off the party. Not to be outdone, the groomsmen followed with their own choreographed dance to Shania Twain’s “I Feel Like A Woman.” It was hilarious and absolutely perfect.

Thunderstorms soon returned, but they didn’t dampen the mood. Instead of dancing out in the fields, we made the most of the gorgeous golden light that filtered through the rain. We captured some romantic golden hour portraits under cover, enjoying the warm light of the sunset. It was so romantic.

The night continued in the barn with the cake cutting, first dance, parent dances, and of course, the party. The dance floor was packed, with flashing sunglasses and LED foam sticks adding to the fun.

It was an unforgettable night celebrating Lauren + Logan, and we feel so lucky to have been a part of it.
