Lexi & Sam's Boho Wedding at Ellis Ranch

A romantic ceremony along the foothills overlooking the mountains, and a surprising but amazing choice for dessert, made Lexi and Sam’s wedding day perfection.

It’s so much fun walking into a wedding day and not know what detail’s we might find or the aesthetic of an Air BnB. Needless to say, this historical home in downtown Loveland was a total win for the bride to get ready. It had gorgeous picture windows for the bride to get in her dress and a beautiful wrap around porch for the sweetest father daughter first look. I think my favorite moment however, was when the bride was reading letter’s from her groom and best friends on the front porch swing.

The mood was so perfectly set for Lexi to join her groom at Ellis Ranch, with one tiny worry haunting everyone’s minds, “will it rain?” As the weekend quickly approached we checked the weather relentlessly, praying the forecast of a downpour would change. As we pulled up to the ranch, the sprinkles began to fall. And the sprinkles then turned into a very large downpour. But the rain wasn’t going to stop this bride and groom from a very special first look.

Tucked under the umberella of two large willow tree’s these two got to take a moment and celebrate what was about to happen. Becoming man and wife is a big deal and rushing through the motions of the day never helped anyone feel present. So taking a deep breath, these two remembered what the day was all about.

Rain is a crazy and truly feared part of the wedding planning process, especially if you’re planning an outdoor ceremony. Some people avoid the option altogether with a ceremony under a canopy or indoors, but other’s just make a Plan B that they hope they’ll never have to use. Esepcially if you’re “indoor” option goes against everything you’ve planned.

Fortunately for Lexi and Sam, the rain only dumped for about 15 minutes, and then the clouds opened up in time for portraits and a very warm and sunny ceremony. It was truly an answer to prayer.

Knowing Lexi and her family for a few years now, Jeremy had the amazing honor of officiated the ceremony, which as always included meaningful moments and of course a bit of laughter. I have to admit one of my favorite moments in the ceremony was watching Lexi and Sam serve each other communion. Their complete surrender to God’s plan for their lives together was so evident and brought tears down everyone’s cheeks.

After an amazing ceremony, portraits in the field and a delicious meal served the team at LickSkillet Catering, the bride and groom surrounded themselves with friends and family on the deck for toasts. Delivering some wonderfully witty and thoughtful words, the crowd raised their glasses to the new Mr. and Mrs.

I can’t forget about one of my most favorite moments of the day. I realize I’ve already said about a dozen other things were my favorite, but truly this one takes the cake. And by cake I mean ice cream.

Lexi and Sam brilliantly brought in an ice cream truck from Walrus Ice Cream of Fort Collins and shared a delicious cone in lieu of cutting a cake. Topped off with cookies from Eileen’s Colossal cookies and it was the cherry on top of a memorable night.

Lexi and Sam, we’re just so blessed to know you and to be trusted by your family for so many important moments in your lives. This moment however, just might be my favorite. Okay. I’m done.
