Spending months in isolation, overwhelmed with emotion and change is something we’ve all been faced with recently. But imagine going through this challenging time, not able to celebrate HUGE events with loved ones. One day you announce you’re expecting and the next thing you know the baby is here. But what happened to all that time in-between?

My sweet, beautiful, amazing friend Nikki, is expecting her second child with husband Joel at any moment. And while she’s not one to complain, you can see in her eyes the desire to share this experience with her friends and family.

Nichole wants for nothing, serves endlessly and loves unconditionally. She and her husband truly embody the love of Christ in everything that they do. And with the time and energy they give so selflessly, we their friends, can’t help but want to gift them that same love. To see them not experiencing the same “traditions” and experiences through this pregnancy has been challenging. And while I wish we could gift them all the time back that was stolen from them, we can instead make memories of the time we’ve been given.

A moment stolen is only that way if you choose to view it through that lens. So together, we reclaimed those memories and captured this time for them to look back on and never forget.

And while we are reclaiming time, it only makes sense that we would do it wearing an appropriate dress. One thing that made this session extra special was the incredible Reclamation Dress we rented from another photographer in town. These stunning dresses are truly a work of art. And as soon as Nichole saw it, she knew it was exactly what she’d been dreaming of.

Now that we had the dress, it was time to find a location that will create the perfect canvas for our time together. We found beautiful trails surrounding ponds, tall grass and warm golden skies. This rustic location was perfect for our BoHo inspired maternity session with them.

Getting to share this moment in time with our dear friends to celebrate the beautiful life they’re creating was such a gift to us as well. Seeing the pure joy and love on their faces filled my cup and gave them a moment to just focus on the sweet baby they will soon get to meet.

I’ve known Arian since she was a tiny tot and she and my oldest son have been close friends for a long time. But standing before me was not a small girl, but instead a girl with an important job. BIG SISTER. Watching her hug her mommy’s tummy like a guardian of a treasure, I could see she knew the value that was inside. I remember when Arian found out it was going to be girl, she screamed with joy as tears came rolling down her cheeks. This sweet girl, is so ready for the task and is going to make an AMAZING big sister.

To my friends Joel and Nikki; I am so incredibly excited for you both. Your daughter will be here soon, and I can’t wait for the day she realizes how lucky she is to have you two as parents. You’ve done an amazing job raising Arian and co-parenting with her dad. The love you have to give is something so special and your daughter’s are going to be world changers, I just know it. Congrats from our family to yours!

This moment in time will be over before you know it. And getting to look back at images of your beautiful pregnancy is truly a gift. I know when I get to look back at my own, I’m instantly taken back to the emotions, the little kicks and the magnitude of carrying that little life inside me.
