While Veronica and Pablo may have met in high school, these two wouldn’t call themselves high school sweethearts. But from the last month of senior year on, they’ve been inseparable.
Completely smitten with one another, Veronica recalls one of her favorite dates with Pablo. She was supposed to be doing homework, but with Pablo holding her hand there was no way that was going to happen. And as they sat there an older lady saw them and decided to tell them that they were going to get married one day! And here they are after 5 years of dating, getting married on Oct 10, 2020.
Enjoying a “fancy” date each year, where they both get all dressed up and go out to dinner. It was on their 4th anniversary that they enjoyed dinner in Estes Park. After their dinner, in the freezing cold, Pablo insisted that they go for a walk downtown to enjoy the night. After walking for 2 hours talking about their future together and if they would ever get married one day, Pablo brought Veronica to a pavilion in Bond Park. He had one more story to share with her.
Three years earlier on their first anniversary, they had spent the day in Estes at one of her favorite little antique store across the street. She was trying on rings in hope of marrying him one day, but didn’t think anything of it. Well, Pablo ended up buying the ring that she loved that day. A beautiful, dainty, antique from the 1920’s. And for 3 years, he had been waiting for the right moment to to ask her to marry him.
I love getting a glimpse into our BGP Couples relationships when we ask what things they love most about each other. It really allows us get to know them more and helps us tell their love story.
Here’s what Pablo shared about Veronica:
“I love when she smiles when we haven’t seen each other for a couple of days. I love going on new adventures with her. It’s hard to put these things into words! I love watching you laugh and be happy. I love how when I’m having a bad day you just hug me and try to make me feel better. How you get excited about just spending time with me. I love all the little things you do for me. I love how you are kind and helpful. You offer to help me with anything and give advice when I need it!”
Here’s what Veronica had to say about her love for Pablo:
“I love his heart for helping others. He has a mercy and grace that I haven’t come to understand yet. I love to watch him work on cars, watch race cars with him, and shoot guns with him because I can see how excited and passionate he is about these activities. I love his love for me. It’s so weird and deep and thoughtful. It’s hard for me to understand sometimes, but it comes out in things that he does like taking me to dinner and paying, and helping me save money by fixing my car, and just having a day where we cuddle and do nothing but be with each other. He helps me to keep reality in check, but also reminds me to have fun.”
Getting to see their relationship through their eyes is something so powerful. It makes you so excited that you get to play a small part in retelling their love story.
I love seeing the balance that Pablo and Veronica bring to each other. The love and appreciation they share for their differences. And the joy they find in knowing they get to keep growing in this love.
