As the year 2021 comes to a close, we welcomed the year 2022 with a stunning New Years Eve wedding and a midnight kiss at the historic Brown Palace Hotel.
The answer to your first question is YES… it did have all the sparkle and glam you would hope for at a spectacular NYE event. With the bridesmaids poured into gorgeous gold sequin gowns from Revelry and the groomsmen toasting in this new chapter over whiskey in the Palace Arms, you’d swear you stepped right into a fabulous Hollywood party.
Beginning the day getting ready in the most impressive bridal suite I’ve ever seen, Jennifer was glammed up by the talented Tori of Your Look by Tori. And after some quality time with her Bride Squad, we shifted the mood to capture some romantic bridal boudoir portraits. A sweet surprise for her groom after the big day.
Jennifer’s beauty goes way beyond her stunning blue eyes and infectious laugh, as she cares so deeply for her friends and holds them close to her heart. She went above and beyond to spoil her best friends with a luxurious morning, cute robes and champagne to top it off. The only thing missing was a few members of her wedding party, who had sadly contracted Covid before the big day. Many tears were shed, as these gals joined when they could via livestream and FaceTime and their absence was very much felt.
From the moment I met Jennifer, I could see how important it was to treat her guests and wedding party to the night of their lives. With so many special details, I exchanged many emails with her as we worked together to make each moment count. And while so much of the timeline for the beginning of the day was up to us, the real stars of the show were Lexi and her team from Brianne Leigh Weddings. These coordinators took an extended wedding day and made each moment flow flawlessly, which gifted Jennifer and Travis with all the time in the world to be present and enjoy things right along side their guests.
One of my favorite things the couple did for guests in a more “restricted viewing” section of the ceremony, was providing each one with a glass of Fireball as a thank you for taking one for the team. And guests were not sad about it.
Entering arm in arm, the wedding party was not escorted down the aisle with one another, but instead, each member came in along side their significant others. A nice sentiment for anyone who has been in a wedding party and never saw their spouse or partner the entire night. But also paid tribute to these amazing couples who are standing along side their friends, as they become husband and wife.
It of course came as no surprise, that the entrance of the night would come from their handsome son, Matthew. Entering as the Flower Dude, he made his way down the aisle tossing golden petals from his fanny pack. But it was his final move at the end of the aisle, the worm, that had guests rolling with laughter.
Jennifer and Travis exchanged beautiful vows with one another, as they both held their son’s hands tightly, and included him in every moment of this union.
Following the emotional ceremony, guests then made their way to the cocktail hour, while the Jennifer and Travis enjoyed a private moment together before joining in the fun. It’s always so hard to put your time together first, when you also just want to hug and squeeze all those important people who’ve joined you that day. But these two did a fabulous job finding balance and including time to be present for so many important moments, while also partying with their guests.
After the cocktail hour, guests made their way to the impeccably decorated Grand Ballroom of the hotel. The room was so inviting and the decor made you swear at any moment Ryan Seacrest from Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve was about to welcome guests to the dance floor.
The wedding party joined the reception in the best possible way, with dance moves inspired by The Office wedding, which led right into the bride and groom’s first dance. A giant 2022 glowing marquee lit up the night, along with great music provided by Matt of Top Performance Entertainment.
Another highlight of the night was the beautiful mother-son dance shared by Jennifer and her son. When she picked him up in her arms, my mama heart just exploded and tears ran quickly down my face. But the mood quickly shifted, as these two surprised guests with a little choreographed Tik Tok Dance to Fancy Like.
Jennifer and Travis did so much to ensure their son knew that this wedding was about him too. Even including fun details like a photobooth and a caricature artist to keep both Matthew and guests entertained.
As guests feet began to tire, Jennifer made sure that comfort was a top priority with an adorable table of cute flip flops in every size and a bag to take home their heels. And what midnight party would be complete without Chinese takeout for those late nite munchies.
The dance floor was full as the countdown began. With their phones and glasses of champagne held high, the clock struck midnight and a waterfall of balloons fell from the sky.
I can think of no better place, than The Brown Palace to sing, “Auld Lang Syne.” With it’s timeless stories of “long long ago” and of “days gone by” (the english translation to the song), this is one memory that will not soon be forgot.
Jennifer and Travis your wedding day was everything we dreamed it would be and so much more. You treated your guests to an unforgettable night and shared this incredibly special union with those who you love most in this world. We are so happy for you and so grateful to know you. What a great way to kick off 2022. Congratulations and thank you again for everything.
