Talitha and Preston’s beautiful wedding at Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park was the highlight of our week! What’s not to love about a venue with jaw-dropping views nestled in one of the most sought after locations in Colorado! The Boulders is the epitome of romance, and we soaked in every detail of the day.
The Boulders at Black Canyon Inn really is a one-stop-shop when it comes to planning a wedding. Surrounded by natural rock, it is without a doubt one of the most stunning locations around. The attentive staff provide full event coordination, including catering and cake cutting services! With views for days and so many services included, it’s an incredible option for couples wanting a wedding in the Rocky Mountains.
And this couple’s mountain wedding was definitely a showstopper! Talitha and Preston are simply adorable together. They met at a youth conference five years ago, and it’s obvious they are smitten with each other. Talitha got ready with her closest friends and family in The Boulders’ bright and inviting bridal suite. Meanwhile, the guys were getting dressed downstairs in the groom’s suite.
As they got ready, the bride and groom passed love notes back and forth with the help of their amazing wedding party. It doesn’t get much cuter than that!
After the bride shared an emotional first look with her mom and dad, we all had to pause to catch our breath. They gifted her with a necklace and earrings, then took a moment to pray over their daughter before heading to see her future husband.
However, as Talitha headed down to the pond for her first look with Preston, the mood shifted just a bit. We couldn’t help but notice some impressive paw prints in the mud, along with some other…unmentionables. We were instantly aware that wildlife was likely nearby!
Nothing kills a mood like an unexpected visit from a mountain lion! I immediately deferred to my Eagle Scout husband, tapping into his knowledge of wildlife safety. Jeremy checked all the trees and surrounding areas to be sure we didn’t add a run-in with a bear or elk to the wedding day schedule.
Apparently the rule of thumb when encountering wildlife is to move away very slowly and sideways. Fully prepared to do a little side-shuffle, we kept one eye on the trees around us as we continued with the bride and groom’s emotional first look.
As they read private letters to each other, we suddenly felt we had an audience. Out of nowhere, a herd of bull elk surrounded us. However, they had no interest in the wedding festivities. Crisis averted!
The ceremony began with the bride joining her groom at the front as guests took a moment to worship. The room echoed with harmonies as they sang out “Oh Praise the Name,” and I’m telling you, there was not a dry eye in the room.
Following the ceremony, the celebration continued in the reception room just below. This is just another incredible feature offered at The Boulders.
Talitha and Preston shared a private last dance as the sun was setting. Just moments earlier, the room was filled with over 200 guests, and suddenly they had a moment alone to really take in the day. Sharing that special, private moment with such a majestic view in the background was so very emotional.
As they headed out, the groom surprised us all by taking the mic and singing a love song to his new wife! I will seriously never forget this moment or the look on their faces as he took a rare opportunity to sing in public. Let me tell you, Preston can SING! It was amazing to see him filled with so much confidence.
The couple left under a canopy of bubbles in one of the longest exit lines I’ve ever seen. They were surrounded by an entire village of people who love and adore them. I can’t think of a better way to start a new life together.
Talitha and Preston, your day was truly magical! Congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful marriage!
