Chilly January Wedding at Pinecrest

Jess + Jeremy’s January wedding at Pinecrest was one we will never forget.  After months of no snowfall, Colorado decided to go all in and hit us with a polar vortex, dropping temps from a cozy 48 degrees to below zero.

But with that icy chill came the most beautiful snowfall, giving Jess and Jeremy their dream of a white, snowy wedding. Black ice and closed roads couldn’t stop over 200 guests from traveling far and wide to celebrate in Palmer Lake. Sure, there were a few cars in ditches, but the warmth of love for this amazing couple couldn’t keep anyone away.

Getting to know Jess and Jeremy over the past year has been such a joy. From their engagement session in Boulder to all our Zoom calls and timeline planning, we knew their day was going to be something special. With the weather playing games, Jeremy and I gave ourselves over four hours for what is usually a 90-minute drive to ensure we arrived safely at Pinecrest.

Once we arrived, it was all smiles and excitement. Jess was glowing, and the energy in the bridal suite was contagious. When it came time for her to get into her dress, I knew from our chats how much this moment meant to her. But seeing it unfold in real-time? Absolutely magical.

The crisp white walls and natural light created the perfect cinematic moment, and watching Jess’s mom gently squeeze her daughter after each step had me holding back tears. Before stepping out to reveal her look to her best friends, they shared a quiet prayer together—a moment I won’t soon forget.

Jess is one of those rare gems who cherishes every moment, and it was beautiful to see her soak in the day with her favorite people. She shared a first look with her dad that was nothing short of emotional, but let’s not overlook the way her dad looked at her mom, who was looking especially stunning that day. And let’s not forget the first look with her brothers—yes, brothers, plural.

Now, here’s a fun twist: both Jess and Jeremy have twin brothers. And if that wasn’t cool enough, Jess also has another set of twin brothers. Talk about a family dynamic! If you want the full scoop on that story, you’ll want to check out their engagement blog.

With the temps refusing to cooperate, we had to move their bride and groom first look indoors. Using the back doors to the ceremony aisle for the reveal turned out to be a perfect plan. The look on Jeremy’s face when he saw Jess? Priceless. They couldn’t stop smiling, and it quickly became one of my favorite moments of the day.

The groom’s mom had her moment too, tearfully pinning Jeremy’s boutonniere and savoring every second with her son. If there’s one thing I always recommend, it’s for every groom to share a quiet moment with their mom on the wedding day.

Now, the biggest question of the day—could we manage portraits outside? With massive icicles lining the windows, the temptation was real. It was a winter wonderland, but with temps below zero, it was a tough call. Luckily, thanks to our engagement session, Jess and Jeremy were total pros. We mapped out every shot, and in less than five minutes (before frostbite could set in), we got the dreamy portraits they had hoped for. And let’s be real, these two needed almost no direction—their chemistry made our job easy.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the bridesmaids, the real MVPs of the day. They braved the freezing cold, stood perfectly as planned, and we managed to capture some of the most breathtaking portraits under snow-covered branches in record time. I’m tempted to start doing this with all bridal parties, but let’s be honest, the subzero temps were the real motivator here.

Faith was the heart of this day, woven into every moment—from pre-ceremony prayers to the worship-filled service. But the constant theme? Jess and Jeremy’s desire to be more like Jesus. It was hands-down my favorite part of the day.

The reception felt like a cozy family reunion. Guests were greeted with a hot chocolate bar and appetizers—a perfect way to warm up after the cold trek from the ceremony site to the reception hall. Toasts were heartfelt and hilarious, with stories of how deeply loved these two are. And here’s a fun tidbit: Jess’s best friend growing up married her twin brother, making them family forever. How cool is that?

The dance floor? Packed all night. Their DJ knew exactly how to keep the party going, and capturing all those moves was an absolute blast.

As the night came to an end, Jess and Jeremy braved a sparkler exit in negative 18-degree weather. With a little luck and some teamwork, we got the sparklers lit and created a truly magical exit. And as a final surprise, Jess’s brothers gifted them a beautiful limo to whisk them away to their honeymoon.

Pinecrest is hands-down one of our favorite venues in Colorado. The team there is incredible, and we are always so grateful to work alongside them to make dreams come true. If you’re looking for a Pinecrest wedding photographer and videographer, we would absolutely love to be a part of your special day.

Palmer Lake, near Larkspur, Colorado, was the perfect setting for this unforgettable wedding. Snow, love, and laughter filled the day, and we couldn’t be happier for Jess and Jeremy as they start this new chapter together.
